Veteran Comedian and Second City Alum Paul Mattingly Joins Steel City Improv Theater as Instructor This Fall
PITTSBURGH, PA (July 18, 2025) – Steel City Improv Theater (The SCIT) is thrilled to announce that award winning improviser, actor, podcaster and comedian Paul Mattingly will join its faculty this September, bringing over 30 years of performance experience to the Pittsburgh comedy community.
Mattingly’s dynamic career includes starring on The Second City Mainstage at the Flamingo in Las Vegas, in the lead role of Christian Grey in 50 Shades! The Musical Parody, and delighting audiences in immersive productions such as Tony and Tina’s Wedding and Star Trek: The Experience at the Las Vegas Hilton. He is also the co-host of the hit comedy podcast Matt and Mattingly’s Ice Cream Social, which boasts a global fan base and over 1,000 episodes of smart, sometimes dumb and irreverent improv comedy.
“Paul is one of those rare performers who can command a stage while making everyone around him look like a star,” says the SCIT leadership team. “We’re beyond excited to bring someone of his caliber to Steel City.”
At SCIT, Mattingly will teach long-form improv classes and share insight from his decades of experience on stage, in immersive theater, and behind the mic. His arrival signals a new chapter in SCIT’s mission to offer world-class comedy training in the heart of Pittsburgh.
