Researchers with the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie
Mellon University are conducting an experiment here at Steel City Improv
Theater. They are going to study how teams can effectively improvise their way through various interactions and processes. To get all of this data the researchers have decided to start by studying the talented improvisers that can only be found right here at the SCIT. They will then work on how to apply this newfound knowledge to teams of people working in many different sectors, including hospitals, the military, and various business applications.
Participants have all volunteered for this experiment. they have agreed to be mixed up into random teams and sent out on stage with no further instruction. Do not worry we were promised that no improvisers will be harmed, given superpowers, or placed into cryogenic stasis while on stage. unfortunately that promise does not apply to the green room afterwards, so volunteer be vigilant or you may end up the next spiderman. It will be fun, it may get a little messy, and best of all it’s going to be a lot of science!
You can come out and see the science happen for yourself Every Thursday for the rest of August, starting at 8pm, right here at the Steel City Improv Theater. Think of it as the perfect way to end the summer and get your brain juices ready for knowledge, whether it’s going back to school or back to the theater for another improv class or workshop.
Did we forget to mention that this is all free? All you have to do is show up and watch the science happen. The best part is If you are an improviser at scit you can still sign up to take part in the fun.
