Lead By: 4D Thieves – Jennette Cronk and Jacob Horn
Date and Time: Saturday, September 21, 2PM-5PM
Location: Bricolage Production Company
Learn the essential skills of musical improv and take your scenes in whole new directions! In this workshop, we’ll dive into exercises that will make your scenes (in both musical and non-musical improv alike) richer and more satisfying. Some things we’ll be thinking about include honoring and heightening emotions, how to make scenes more specific, and playing fun characters. We’ll start by covering the foundational verse/chorus song structure, so you don’t need previous musical improv experience. And you don’t need to be a trained singer, just come ready to use the voice you have!
Jennette Cronk performs and coaches in NYC and can be seen weekly at the Magnet Theater in Chelsea, performing on the musical house team Wonderland. She is also half of the musical improv duo 4D Thieves, which has performed in festivals and shows along the east coast. Currently, Jennette is on the first national tour of Little Black Dress The Musical. Other selected credits include The Cast and Razzle Dazzle (Magnet Theater); Jiji and Viv’s Ship of Dreams (The PIT); her one-woman character show Fancy DuCan’s Country Cabaret (The Duplex); and standup at the Broadway Comedy Club, The Comedy Cellar, StandUp NY, Eastville Comedy Club, and Coconuts Comedy Club.
Jacob Horn is a New York–based improviser who performs each week with the musical house team Nightshade at the Magnet Theater, where he also coaches and teaches, in addition to bunches of other shows around the Magnet and NYC. Previously, he was on the long-running team Public Pool and the host of Razzle Dazzle: A Musical Variety Show. In the indie scene, Jacob is a proud member of the musical improv duo 4D Thieves, which has performed up and down the east coast, and the musical sketch team MISC, which has performed at the PIT and a strange warehouse in Brooklyn.
